Changing the conversation about drug addiction

INTO LIGHT Project a national non-profit organization is dedicated to changing the conversation about drug addiction. We use original portraits and stories of those lost to the disease of addiction to educate the public that addiction is a disease, not a moral failing. We are creating a pool of professional writers to write the 400-550 word narratives of each individual in the exhibition which accompany the portraits. We plan exhibitions in each state in the U.S.,  we are now on our seventh state exhibition and have four to six more planned over the next 2 years. The Colorado exhibition will be held in Denver in Spring/Summer of 2023. Because of grant requirements in some states and a desire to employ those who are local, we utilize local writers (meaning those who live in the state), but that is not always the case. If selected, writers will write 8-10 narratives for one or more states from information provided by families. We are particularly interested in people who have a passion for telling the personal stories of the lives of individuals, and those who have a connection to the topic of substance use disorder and a desire to eliminate the stigma around substance use.
Please go to intolightproject.org and look at any state exhibition to get a sense of how the narratives are written. If you have an interest, please contact Dr. Barbara Francois at bfrancois@intolightproject.org  Compensation is $100.00 per narrative.
