BWA Showcase 2003 Plans |
|
It's not too early to start planning for the Sixth Annual Boulder Writers Alliance Showcase, slated for September 23, 2003. The Showcase offers BWA members, local communicators, product vendors, and employers an opportunity to display their best professional work products to prospective customers and employers. It also provides a comfortable forum to learn through presentations by other professionals, plus networking and tasty food! Last year's event was highly publicized and brought in many product vendors and corporate sponsors, who either set up displays or donated goods for door prizes. Note that BWA has some of the best writing, editing, training, graphic design, and website development talent available in Colorado.
When and where:
Date - Tuesday, September 23, 2003
Time - 6:00 to 9:30 p.m.

Advertising:
Here is what the Showcase committee did last year to attract employers:
* Created and sent a large-scale mailing to employers (1,000 cards).
* Placed an article and an ad in the Boulder County Business Report.
* Placed an article in the Daily Camera.
* Placed notices in other publications, such as Front Range TechBiz.
* Placed notices in other e-mail lists.
* Lined up and promoted a keynote speaker with appeal to a wide audience (author
Chris Locke).

Comments from 2002 Showcase participants:
"I just want to post a quick note thanking
BWA and all the people who made last night's Showcase a success. The room, the
preparations, the Camera article (which several people cited to me as the reason
they came) all were very cool. But most importantly, the quality of the attendees
was great. This market is, well, this market. And while I did not get offered
a job last night (yet), I spoke to several people who took my resume and just
might call me." -- Bill Holtsnider
"A special thanks to the committee in charge
of the Showcase last month. I've participated in most of the Showcases sponsored
by BWA and have ALWAYS found them to be very helpful in marketing my business.
I want to encourage BWA to continue this very valuable program in the future."
-- Lucy Glover
"I want to add a brief thank you to the Showcase
committee... What a great, enthusiastic group of people. If you haven't helped
with this event, you are missing a truly rewarding experience. I know some year
in the near future that employers will finally flock to Showcase, but until
that happens, we still throw the best darn writer's party and networking event
around!" -- Marci Bowman
