- American Society of Indexers is
the only professional organization in the United States devoted solely to
the advancement of indexing, abstracting, and database building.
- Society for Technical Communication (STC)
is an organization for technical writers, editors, graphic artists, and others
interested in technical communication.
- STC Rocky Mountain Chapter has monthly
meetings in the Denver metro area.
- Graphic Artists Guild is a union that
embraces creators of graphic art at all levels of skill and expertise who
create works of graphic art intended for presentation as originals or reproductions.
- National Association of Photoshop
Professionals is a dynamic trade association and the world's leading resource
for Adobe® Photoshop® education, training, and news.
- IDEAlliance (originally known
as the Graphics Communication Association) is a volunteer non-profit membership
association applying computer technology to printing, publishing, and related
industries. The International Digital Enterprise Alliance developed the Standard
Generalized Markup Language (SGML), from which Extensible Markup Language
(XML) and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) are derived.
- Professional Communication Society (PCS)
of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. This group explores
the theory and application of all forms of communication technology to enhance
the core competency of communication in its membership.
- Science Writers Association of
the Rocky Mountains (SWARM). SWARM is a wide-ranging support and networking
group for science writers (and photographers, PIOs, editors, etc.). The organization
focuses on helping members improve their craft, promoting good science writing,
and serving as a support and networking group. SWARM is unofficially a chapter
of the National Association of Science Writers
(NASW).
- Society of Professional Journalists is
dedicated to the perpetuation of a free press as the cornerstone of our nation
and our liberty.
- SPJ Colorado State University chapter
provides opportunities to learn about journalism, meet new people, gather
connections in the different media fields.
- International Association of Business Communicators
(IABC). IABC Colorado Chapter
has monthly luncheon meetings with speakers.
- The National Association of Government Communicators
(NAGC) is a national not-for-profit professional network of federal, state
and local government employees who disseminate information within and outside
government.
- World Association of Medical Editors
is a voluntary association of editors from many countries who seek to foster
international cooperation among editors of peer-reviewed
- Fiction Writer's Connection
(FWC) provides help with novel writing and information on finding agents and
editors and getting published.
- Speculative fiction of Colorado
supports the science fiction, fantasy, and horror writing scene in Colorado.
- The National Writers Union is the trade
union for freelance writers of all genres publishing in U.S. markets.
- National Association for the Self-Employed
offers three membership levels that provide the self-employed with access
to various business, personal, and health insurance benefits.
