Below are links to some resources on publishing and writers' markets of interest
to members of Boulder Writers Alliance.
- About Freelance Writers, like every page in the "About" (née
"MiningCo") series, is a potpourri. The main portion relevant to publishing
can be found in the "Markets" link in the left navigation bar. freelancewrite.miningco.com/cs/markets
- Writers Write: Paying Markets is an easy to search, easy to navigate,
fairly lengthy listing of markets with their requirements. www.writerswrite.com/paying/
- Authorlink gives the serious writer access and exposure to a broad
range of legitimate publishing professionals (editors, agents, other writers).
The site also contains industry news and information and marketing services.
Affiliated with Random House. The site is large (writing opportunities, publishing
avenues, classifieds, etc.) -- but it explicitly prohibits others (such as
BWA) from linking to interior pages, so you have to enter through the main
portal: www.authorlink.com
- Writers Exchange has five pages of links to all kinds of market resources
(job boards, market directories, networking email lists, etc.) in all manner
of specializations (newspapers, telecommuting, online outlets, fiction, etc.)
Devote a day just to getting a handle on the scope of the site. www.writers-exchange.com
- Writers Digest, the standard, is online. Part of it, anyway; see
if what you want is there. www.writersdigest.com
- The eBook Writer's Market Directory is downloadable for $7. www.ebookwritersmarket.com
- Writers' Resources has a dense list of online citations accompanied
by brief annotations. www.geocities.com/chazrich.geo/resources.htm
- Travelers Tales books publishes a line of travel anthologies.
The site includes writer's guidelines as well as online samples. www.oreilly.com/publishing/ttales/
- Writers' Guidelines Database is one of the largest compilations of
guidelines for paying, non-fiction publication on the Web. www.writersdatabase.com
