Responsible for writing copy, editing and proofreading for print and electronic publication in magazines, trade journals, newsletters, annual reports, periodicals, brochures, ads, emails, presentations, website and other informational and promotional materials produced by American Humane Association. Position is approximately 70% editing/proofreading, 30% writing.

| Requirements or Experience |
Writes, edits and/or proofreads all types of printed and electronic materials, including but not limited to: articles, website content, newsletters and e-newsletters, email blasts, press releases, brochures, fliers, advertisements, correspondence, publications, movie reviews, annual reports, white papers, conference programs, training materials, displays, posters, direct mail, briefings, speeches, presentations, blogs, social networking postings, and op-eds.
Other duties:
–Serves as the primary MarCom copywriter/editor supporting all programs –Coordinates the production and publishing of publications and collateral materials with the MarCom design team. –Assists program staff in determining content for publications, establishes writing assignments, negotiates deadlines, writes articles and edits all material, working closely with other members of the MarCom team throughout the design and production process. –Writes and edits in accordance with American Humane Association style guide, the Associated Press Stylebook and the Publications Manual of the American Psychological Association, as appropriate. –Participates in regular meetings to determine needs for new content and updates. –Assures consistency and appropriateness of terminology, voice and messaging throughout all American Humane Association publications and communications. –Works with program staff to plan content of publications. –Works with Philanthropic Services staff regarding content for emails, web content and direct-mail pieces. –Edits articles assigned to other staff writers, guest editors/writers and freelancers. –Edits and proofreads content for publications, including printer proofs, as the “final set of eyes” to ensure accuracy and quality. –May occasionally travel to other American Humane Association offices, as well as to conferences and Animal Emergency Services deployment sites, as requested.
