Boulder Writers Alliance News

Today the publishing world is exploding with opportunity. Publishing options for authors are vast. While self-publishing and eBooks dominate the landscape, which options and platforms are best for you? BWA’s May 14, 2016 program helped attendees navigate the choices through an insightful overview of the publishing market plus practical tips on how to publish eBooks. Visit our Meeting Notes page for PDFs of both presentations.

The crowd loved it! BWA presented “What You Need to Know About Content Marketing” by Valerie Morris on February 27, 2016. Today, content marketing – or creating and sharing valuable information to attract prospects and convert them into loyal customers – is a must-do. When done right, it creates customers that know, like and trust you, which is the first step to buying from you. Visit our Meeting Notes page for a PDF of Valerie’s presentation.

To complement all our formal BWA events, BWA just started a Meetup group, which provides a variety of extra events and get togethers. Sign up for the free BWA Meetup group to learn about these additional professional education and networking events.

About the Boulder Writers Alliance

Established in 1991, the Boulder Writers Alliance (BWA) is a nonprofit organization of communications professionals in Boulder and throughout Colorado. Members specialize in all facets of writing and communications, including technical and marketing writing, fiction and journalism, editing, graphic arts, multimedia, and websites.

Are You Looking for a Communications Professional?

BWA connects employers with members through a free job posting service.

Employers can also search our Find A Writer database for BWA members with the desired skills and experience in Boulder, Denver, and throughout Colorado. Get the latest BWA brochure or postcard for more information about the wide variety of skills that BWA members possess.

Are You Looking for Education, Networking, and Marketing Opportunities?

BWA provides educational programs, social and other events, and e-mail lists for both members and non-members.

We also offer members marketing opportunities through a listing in our Find A Writer database, through exclusive job postings, and our private members-only e-mail list. Join BWA to take advantage of these membership benefits.

  • We’ve launched a low-cost membership option for college or high school students, and their teachers. Students get the opportunity to meet and work with publishing professionals, enhancing their career prospects and knowledge.
  • We’re looking for volunteers to help with a variety of fun tasks. Help BWA while also gaining marketable new skills. Current volunteer needs include a Membership Chairperson, a future Programs Chairperson, someone to publish a new directory of BWA members, and other activities.

For more information on career-building volunteer openings, e-mail volunteers@bwa.org. Help out, gain a new skill. We’ll even provide the training.
